    Virtual production of “Parenostre”
    GRUP MEDIAPRO's virtual production set in Barcelona hosts the shooting of “Parenostre”, the first European film and one of the first in the world shot entirely on a virtual production set.
    Itxaso
    "Itxaso" makes a strong debut on Netflix, landing in the top 10 most-watched series. Set in the surfing world and starring Jon Plazaola, the fiction series was produced by ETB and K 2000.
    First ground broken for the new Yonkers production center
    Mediapro North America breaks ground on its new facilities at the Great Point Studios complex in Yonkers, New York. The cutting-edge production space is set to feature the latest in technology and infrastructure to cater to the growing demands of the entertainment industry.

    The Corporation of the Santiago 2023 XIX Pan American Games selects GRUP MEDIAPRO as host broadcaster for the Chile 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games. It’s the second time in a row that the group has been entrusted with production of this major multi-sport event.
    Disney’s 100th Anniversary Gala
    Disney celebrates its 100th Anniversary at a spectacular epic event designed and produced by the Mediapro Events team. Madrid’s Teatro Real hosts the musical show paying tribute to the dream factory’s 100-year history.

    Primeran – The biggest OTT in basque

    GRUP MEDIAPRO produces the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup with an all-female crew. For the first time, a sports broadcast in Spain is produced by a team consisting exclusively of women.
    Master in screenwriting from GRUP MEDIAPRO & ESCAC
    THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO's master of screenwriting comes to Barcelona in collaboration with the ESCAC, a prestigious Catalan institution that is a benchmark in the training of future audiovisual professionals.
    European Games
    GRUP MEDIAPRO brings together 500 broadcast professionals from multiple international offices to Krakow to broadcast 750 hours live coverage of 29 different sports disciplines during the 12-day event.
    Virtual production center
    MEDIAPRO US launches the largest virtual production center in Southern Florida, United States. The new studios in Miami features an installation with a 24-meter wide and 7 meters high LED screen composed of more than 1,000 panels.
    Champions League final
    GRUP MEDIAPRO, responsible for the production of the television signal for the UEFA Champions League final. This is the sixth UEFA Champions League final GRUP MEDIAPRO has been commissioned to produce in 10 years. The group also acted as host broadcaster for the UEFA Nations League final this year.
    Concacaf international agency
    GRUP MEDIAPRO renews its agency role with the international distribution of media rights to the main Concacaf soccer tournaments in 2023 and 2024, including men's and women's Concacaf Gold tournaments and the Concacaf Champions Cup.
    “Barça Immersive tour”

    GRUP MEDIAPRO creates and designs the FC Barcelona museum with Europe’s largest immersive room in a sports museum.

    “Sorolla a traves de la luz”
    MEDIAPRO GRUP, responsible for the technological production and virtual reality experience of the “Sorolla a traves de la luz” exhibition.     VAR in CONMEBOL
    CONMEBOL awards GRUP MEDIAPRO the VAR service for the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana. The agreement includes a total of 1,245 matches, 32 per week, to be played in 10 South American countries.
    GOL MUNDIAL
    GRUP MEDIAPRO launches Gol Mundial, the new OTT that offers the entire Qatar 2022 World Cup. The platform wins two 2023 SportsPro Awards.
    Sportel Awards
    Sportel, the prestigious international sports event, recognizes GRUP MEDIAPRO in the innovation category at the SPORTEL Awards for its broadcast of the first LaLiga match in vertical format on TikTok.
    Eurobasket and Americup
    GRUP MEDIAPRO appointed Host Broadcaster at three of the EuroBasket venues and for the entire International Basketball Federation (FIBA) AmeriCup, which once again entrusted the group to produce these two international competitions. Medialuso produces the two sporting events simultaneously in three countries.
    Bar TV
    Bar TV is born, GRUP MEDIAPRO's new OTT for public venues that offers all football and the best sport for the hospitality sector. Through a unique distribution model, Bar TV allows establishments to contract the service directly without the need to purchase additional packages with any operator.

    THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO and Be-Entertainment close an agreement to adapt the entertainment format "The Musical of Your Life" for the Spanish market.
    Agreement with FOX Deportes
    GRUP MEDIAPRO and FOX Deportes sign a five-year agreement for the television network to produce four daily programs at the group's newly inaugurated facilities in Mexico City.
    CaixaForum’s #laNUBE (IA)
    Mediapro Exhibitions designs and produces the "#LaNUBE{IA}" experience, the new La Nube space for CaixaForum València that proposes to experiment and debate on the use of artificial intelligence in education through an interactive tour and international research projects.
    Mediterranean Games
    The International Committee awards GRUP MEDIAPRO the contract for coordination of production, broadcasting and generation of the signal of the opening and closing ceremonies at the Mediterranean Games. The agreement covers almost all the 24 sports disciplines featured in the competition.
    LALIGA on TikTok
    Through the @goltelevision channel on TikTok, GRUP MEDIAPRO produces the first ever football match in vertical format in Spain. To do so, the groups deploys a special crew in Spain featuring a 4K Outside Broadcast unit together with over 30 broadcast professionals to deliver this exclusive production adapted to mobile devices and new audiences.
    VAR in Bolivia
    The Bolivian Football Federation awards the contract for VAR service provision for the Bolivian league to GRUP MEDIAPRO.
    UEFA Europa League Final in Seville
    GRUP MEDIAPRO is commissioned to produce and distribute the international signal to the UEFA Europa League Final between Eintracht Frankfurt and Rangers FC held in Seville.     Mirador torre Glòries (Torre Glòries Observatory)
    Mediapro Exhibitions develops this new multidisciplinary space to where art, science and technology convene. The space houses the only permanent multi-sensory and walkable art installation in southern Europe by contemporary artist Tomás Saraceno.

    GRUP MEDIAPRO acquires the 3 Fox Sports channels in Argentina. With more than 8 million subscribers and a wide range of sports activities to choose from, including competitions such as the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores, UEFA-Champions League, Formula 1 and ATP.
    Iosi, El Espía Arrepentido (Yosi, the Regretful Spy)

    VISYON develops Metahype, the metaverse platform spearheaded by CUPRA that allows transferring experiences and emotions into the virtual world.

    Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon
    GRUP MEDIAPRO is responsible for the production of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. 110 broadcast professionals using state-of-the-art tech equipment cover all 52 matches held at 6 stadiums around the country.
    World Pàdel Tour
    GRUP MEDIAPRO and World Padel Tour sign an agreement for the international commercialization of the media rights to the professional padel circuit.

    Liceu+
    GRUP MEDIAPRO develops Liceu+, the new OTT of the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Featuring coverage of all the season’s performances, interviews, concert streaming, historic moments, podcasts, and more, the projects becomes the new audiovisual platform of Gran Teatre del Liceu.
    Mediapro Colombia
    Mediapro Colombia celebrates their 200th match as official VAR provider. Since 2019, a team of more than 25 broadcast technicians and 6 Outside Broadcast units have provided VAR services to the Colombian soccer league. Over the course of these 200 matches, the group's OB units have travelled more than 83,000 kilometers to provide the service at soccer stadiums across the country.
    Volcanic eruption in Las Palmas

    Television channels and news agencies from around the world show the spectacular footage from the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma thanks to the service provision of Overon Aerial.

    THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO and Reposado P.C. produce this film written and directed by Fernando León de Aranoa and starring Javier Bardem. The film premieres within the Official Selection at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, winning awards which include 6 Feroz Awards, 6 Goyas (including Best Film and Best Actor), 5 Platino Awards, an Ariel Award and a European Film Award. In addition, the film is chosen to represent Spain at the Academy Awards.

    The 78th edition of the Venice International Film Festival hosts the premiere of Official Competition.

    THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO and El Terrat reach an agreement to cement their experience, talent, teams and creativity with the integration of Andreu Buenafuente's production company into the Studio. The production company brings to the table their experience in the entertainment and comedy sector spanning over 30 years.
    CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores
    The group is selected to serve as Host Broadcaster for the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores final in Lima, thus completing coverage of all major UEFA and CONMEBOL finals in 2019.
    Sustainable production
    The remote production system used in soccer match production and developed by GRUP MEDIAPRO notches up 1,500 productions, representing a saving of 4,000 tons in CO₂ emissions, the equivalent of the total combined carbon emissions over 60-hours of the entire population of Barcelona and 36 hours of those in Madrid.
    World University Cyber Games
    MEDIAPRO strengthens its business dealings in China signing an agreement between LVP and the World University Cyber Games (WUCG). The Liga de Videojuegos Profesional (LVP) is commissioned to organize the WUCG tournaments in Latin America, with the regional champions earning their place at the finals held in Sanya (China).
    First 5G tele-assisted surgery

    UEFA Champions League final in Madrid
    Three Outside Broadcast units, a crew of more than 150 broadcast professionals and 42 cameras are deployed to produce one of the most important sporting events of the year for a potential audience of 400 million viewers.
    Copa América Brazil 2019
    GRUP MEDIAPRO becomes the VAR tech provider for the Copa América 2019 in Brazil and the first time the event ever features Video Assistant Refereeing for all matches in the competition.     El Intermedio airs its 2,000th episode as the laSexta program reaches viewership milestones with 1.9 million viewers and a 10.5% audience share.

    Directed by Jaume Roures and produced by MEDIAPRO, the documentary broadcast on TV3 analyzes case number 20907/2017. 17 judges, prosecutors, jurists and professors in criminal and procedural law come together to address and explain crucial questions to understand the judicial procedure behind the Catalan "procés".
    U-Beat is born

    MEDIAPRO launches U-BEAT, the Spanish-language e-Sports platform aimed at the Latin American market.

    The new OTT offers live and on-demand content for viewing across several mobile devices as the company sets out to become a global benchmark for e-Sports fans, offering more than 3,000 hours of tournaments, news and entertainment exclusively focused on e-Sports, as well as high-quality proprietary content.

    G20 Summit
    GRUP MEDIAPRO is responsible for the reception and distribution of the international signal to the G20 Summit and serves as Host Broadcaster for the International Media Center located in Buenos Aires. The production involves a crew of more than 50 broadcast professionals and the provision of with two Outside Broadcast units from Mediapro Argentina.
    Lima 2019 Games
    MEDIAPRO produces 917 hours of live content and, for the first time, in 4K, at the Pan American and Parapan American Games. The competition is the third largest multi-sports event in the world, after the Olympic Games and the World Cup.
    CONMEBOL
    MEDIAPRO assumes production of CONMEBOL matches in Bolivia and Colombia for the 2019-2022 seasons. The group is in charge of producing matches played in both countries within the framework of all CONMEBOL competitions.
    All or Nothing Manchester City
    THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO produces this documentary series about the day-to-day life at Manchester City for Amazon Prime Video and is made available in more than 200 countries.
    My Masterpiece
    My Masterpiece, directed by Gastón Duprat and screenplay by Mariano Cohn, arrives at the Venice International Film Festival. The cast is headed by Guillermo Francella and Luis Brandoni, also featuring Spanish actor Raúl Arévalo.
    CONMEBOL adopts VAR
    MEDIAPRO becomes the official VAR tech provider to the South American Football Confederation for the 2018/19 season. This service is rolled out for the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores, Sudamericana and Recopa, and the 2019 Copa America in Brazil.
    The New Pope
    Paolo Sorrentino's second foray into scripted fiction set in the world of the modern papacy, starring Jude Law, John Malkovich and Javier Cámara. Produced by Lorenzo Mieli and Mario Gianani for Wildside, the series is a co-production of THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO and Haut et Court TV.

    The documentary 20-S, produced by MEDIAPRO and broadcast on TV3, is the absolute audience leader with a 34.8% share. Followed by 1,071,000 viewers, the program becomes the second most watched entertainment broadcast of the year in Catalonia, only surpassed by another MEDIAPRO project, 1-O. On social media, it sparks passionate debate with 121,400 messages on Twitter and more than 9.7 million impressions.
    Nations Cup
    The LVP organizes the Nations Cup, the World Cup of teams of the popular mobile game Clash Royale. More than 50 countries from all over the world participate in the tournament.
    Orient Hontai Capital
    Orient Hontai Capital becomes part of the shareholders in IMAGINA with the purchase of a 53.5% stake in the group. IMAGINA's shareholders are made up of: Orient Hontai (53.5%), WPP (22.5%), and the group's founding partners, Tatxo Benet (12%) and Jaume Roures (12%).
    La Resistencia
    TV program La Resistencia, produced by El Terrat and co-directed and presented by comedian David Broncano, begins broadcasting on the Movistar+ platform’s channel #0. The late-night chat show offers the most streetwise, rogue and ground-breaking show with a host of even-handed collaborators and interviews discussing current affairs.

    Flipy’s Tesla! Inventemos el futuro
    Mediapro invests in the virtual reality sector with 100 Balas and Sony Interactive Entertainment Spain. The alliance produces this game for PlayStation®VR that stimulates players to learn about scientific discoveries through a graphic adventure game based on an immersive experience.

    Mediapro is present at Expo Zaragoza 2008 as productions manager in the Bridge, Mexico and Spain halls and for the Extreme water. It also produces a show for the Day of Catalonia and manages the dynamic information displays around the site.
    Imagina 22@ building
    Mediapro moves its headquarters to the 22@ district of Barcelona. The building is awarded a number of prizes, including the Ciutat de Barcelona, while its architect Carlos Ferrater is awarded the National Architecture prize. The construction pays homage to Mies van der Rohe and its distinctive features are its open spaces without columns, supported only by the outer structure.

    Freixenet: the Key to Reserva
    Freixenet changes its strategy of recent years and, at Ovideo’s suggestion, hires Martin Scorsese to direct a short advertising film. The Key to Reserva is a small work of art that pays homage to another great director, Alfred Hitchcock.

    Pelopicopata is a television docusoap that portrays the relationships of the domestic animals with their owners. This is a format that Mediapro began with Animalia (Telemadrid) and was reproduced in Bestial (La Sexta) and Veterinaris (TV3).

    Salvador Allende
    Mediapro co-produced Salvador Allende, a documentary directed by Patricio Guzmán. The work followed the biography of the president Salvador Allende and was made to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the coup that ended the life of the president elect.
    Iraq War
    Mediapro is the only broadcaster to stay Bagdad at the moment the American troops occupied the city. Thanks to this presence, and the work in extremely difficult conditions, images of the confrontations and bombardments of that historical moment could be distributed to the whole world.
    Comandante
    Comandante directed by Oliver Stone present a personal picture of Fidel Castro and makes an unprecedented analysis of Cuba. Its presentation at the Berlin International Film Festival created quite a commotion, due to its subject and the political moment that the island was experiencing.

    Mediapro constructed a new head office in Esplugues de Llobregat. Remodelling the former Corberó refrigerator factory created an audiovisual production space with more than 30,000 m2 of facilities.

    The company entered the world of advertising and television fiction with the incorporation of Ovideo into the Mediapro group. Campaigns were created for Estrella Damm, Desigual, Iberdrola, Casa Tarradellas, Freixenet as well as TV movies such as Ermessenda.
    Mondays in the sun
    Mondays in the Sun with more than 1,600,000 viewers and more than 20 awards made it a resounding success. Directed by Fernando León de Aranoa, it painted a realistic picture of the consequences of the industrial reconversion of the shipyards in the north of Spain.
    Flaix TV Guinness world record
    Flaix TV achieves a Guinness world record for broadcasting a magazine programme for 30 hours 3 May 2002.
    2002 Fifa World Cup Korea - Japan
    Mediapro sends its technical crew and staff over to the World Cup in Korea and Japan 2002 to produce the customisations for the Antena 3 Televisión and Vía Digital broadcasts. In other words, we add to the international signal another production to customise the images with shots of the fans, the technical team, interviews and/or players, in this case, of the Spanish side.
    Catalonia-Brazil friendly match
    Mediapro organised and produced the match with the highest viewer ratings and public attendance in the history of the Catalan national football team, when 98,000 people went to Camp Nou to see the match that the Brazilian Canarinha won 1-3.
    2002 African Cup of Nations
    Mediapro hires the biggest aeroplane in the world to send three mobile units and other technical equipment to Mali to cover the African Cup.

    World Men’s Handball Championship
    Mediapro was chosen to produce the World Men’s Handball Championship in France. In a championship like this, with eight hubs throughout the country, up to five matches a day are played.

    This same year, the company travelled to the Persian Gulf where it began its relationship with Al Jazeera, the leading channel in the Middle East and the Arab world.
    Euroleague
    Mediapro, in conjunction with Europe's leading teams, was one of the leading promoters of Euroleague Basketball. With the creation of this new competition, the company established itself as the main medium for its broadcasting.
    Sidney Olimpic Games
    For the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Mediapro produced 6 digital channels for Vía Digital with more than 75 commentators and 24 hours of continuous broadcasting.
    The back of the world
    The Back of the World was the company’s first incursion into the world of cinema. The documentary, produced with Elías Querejeta, garnered a special mention from the jury at the 2000 San Sebastián International Film Festival.

    Andalucía Directo on Canal Sur was the first programme entirely produced by Mediapro. It was a current affairs programme featuring live connections covering subjects of human, cultural and social interest.
    Uplink
    Mediapro signed an agreement with Telefónica allowing it to exclusively offer uplink services: the transmission of images via satellite for third parties. These services came in addition to those the company had already been providing, such as play out, allowing images to be edited and sent via terrestrial links.
